Description
Crafted from warm-hued rattan, this vintage Shanghai weave pelican basket exhibits a sculptural form that merges utility with artistry. The intricately woven body captures the essence of a pelican with striking accuracy, highlighted by the meticulously crafted beak and expressive head. The rattan material showcases a uniform patina, indicative of careful aging, with minor surface wear that adds character without compromising its visual appeal. The basket's design is both functional and decorative, featuring finely detailed wings that extend gracefully down the back. These wings are composed of layered rattan strips that mimic feathers, adding depth and texture to the piece. Resting on a gracefully curved base, the basket maintains structural integrity with no visible repairs, a testament to its durable craftsmanship. Dimensions of W 4.25" × H 7.25" × D 4.5" make it a compact yet captivating object, suitable for display or storage. Its condition is very good, with a subtle sheen that enhances the natural beauty of the rattan.
