Description
A vintage Shanghai weave rattan owl basket, showcasing the distinctive craftsmanship of mid-20th-century rattan artistry. The piece is expertly woven, forming a charming owl shape with a warm, consistent patina that speaks to its age and authenticity. The meticulous weaving technique highlights the natural texture of the rattan, creating a visually appealing surface that is both smooth and intricate. The owl’s character is brought to life with detailed features, including prominent eyes fashioned from circular rattan elements and a curved beak that adds depth to the expression. The basket's lid fits snugly, forming the owl's head and completing the whimsical form. Subtle wear is observed at the base, consistent with careful use, yet the basket remains structurally sound. Standing at 6.5 inches in height, the basket's dimensions make it an ideal decorative piece or a functional storage solution. The minor wear enhances its vintage appeal, without detracting from its overall condition. This rattan owl basket is a delightful example of traditional weaving, capturing the playful elegance of natural materials shaped into a fanciful form.
