Description

A vintage pillow crafted from authentic mudcloth, showcasing a bold, geometric pattern in contrasting black and natural tones. The handwoven fabric reflects traditional techniques, with its characteristic rich texture and irregular weave. The pattern is composed of angular, labyrinthine designs that create a striking visual impact, indicative of its cultural origins. The pillow's edges are subtly adorned with a series of cowrie shells, intricately sewn along a cross-stitch design in ochre thread, adding an additional layer of visual and textural interest. The shells are intact, lending a tactile contrast to the soft, worn texture of the mudcloth. The natural patina of the fabric reveals its age, with minor wear that adds to its authenticity and charm without detracting from the overall integrity. Measuring 22 inches in width and 15 inches in height, the pillow maintains a substantial presence. Its condition is very good, with vibrant pattern retention and intact stitching. The piece is free from significant damage or repairs, making it a robust example of textile art suitable for collectors and appreciators of traditional craftsmanship alike.
