Description
Bring a touch of sophisticated natural history to your home with this exquisite vintage Italian scagliola turtle shell. A masterful example of high-end artisanal plasterwork, this piece utilizes the traditional scagliola technique—a centuries-old method of hand-pigmenting plaster to emulate rare marble and organic materials. The resulting pattern features a striking contrast of deep charcoal and warm cream tones, creating a stylized faux tortoise aesthetic that is both organic and architectural. This sculptural object captures the elegant whimsy of the Hollywood Regency era, serving as a curated "Cabinet of Curiosities" artifact for a refined interior. Perfectly sized for desktop styling or as a unique narrative addition to a gallery wall, the shell features a satisfying sculptural weight and an integrated hanging loop on the reverse. The piece measures 6" wide by 2.5" deep and stands 7.75" tall. It remains in great vintage condition, displaying minor surface scuffs and subtle blemishes that reinforce its hand-wrought, artisanal origins and provide an authentic patina. Whether perched atop a stack of design books or grouped with other naturalistic treasures, this sculpture adds an undeniable layer of storied history to your collection. Secure this rare piece of Italian craftsmanship for your home today.
