Description
This striking Neoclassical cast stone pedestal is a masterclass in Italianate theatricality and Mediterranean allure. Expertly sculpted to resemble three mythological dolphins or koi, the base features dramatic, sinuous tails that gracefully ascend to support a substantial triangular platform. The warm, terracotta-hued finish highlights the intricate detailing of the scales and expressive faces, offering an organic yet highly structured aesthetic. This sculptural masterpiece is a quintessential example of late 20th-century architectural design, perfect for bringing a touch of old-world grandeur to a modern foyer, a sun-drenched sunroom, or an elegant covered terrace. Measuring 26.5” wide, 20” deep, and 28.5” tall, this versatile pedestal serves as a commanding anchor for a glass-top center table or as a monumental display base for a large botanical arrangement. It remains in great vintage condition, exhibiting minor scuffs and surface weathering appropriate to its age and material. These subtle traces of history provide an authentic, earthy patina that enhances its unique character and timeless appeal.
